Planning Approved for Two More Solar and Battery Storage Projects

Wardell Armstrong are delighted to share the news regarding the recent approval of two solar and battery storage projects for our client Renewable Connections, in West Lothian and Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Both projects will make a considerable contribution to Scotland’s green energy network, by helping to meet national targets with regard to decarbonising the energy system and producing more energy via renewable means.

Our multidisciplinary team provided planning, community engagement and environmental assessment support for both projects, including landscape and visual, ecology, noise, glint and glare, heritage and archaeology, traffic and flood risk.

Planning Permission Secured for Solar Farm that will Provide Green Energy to +7,000 Homes

We are delighted to have secured planning permission on behalf of Renewable Connections for the Strathruddie Farm solar and battery storage development in Fife.  The consent is for 25MWp of solar and 20MW of battery storage and allows for either fixed or tracking solar panels. This is the first Renewable Connections solar/battery project in Scotland. 

Wardell Armstrong provided all planning and assessment work, including landscape and visual assessment, ecology, archaeology, heritage, traffic, noise, drainage and access and soils. We also provided the planning assessment and design and access statement, and assisted in the online community consultation exercise.

Wardell Armstrong Reappointed by Crown Estate Scotland as Managing Agent for the Mineral and Mines Royal Portfolio

Crown Estate Scotland has recently completed a full public procurement exercise to appoint managing agents across its diverse property portfolio. The process was rigorously evaluated on price and quality, and the outcome of the evaluation and recommendations were approved by its Board at the end of November. Wardell Armstrong is delighted to have been reappointed to manage the mineral assets within Crown Estate Scotland’s rural estates at Fochabers, Glenlivet, Whitehill and Applegirth as well as mines royal (gold and silver) interests across Scotland.
