Utilising the latest 3D software design packages and being experienced in developing designs within a BIM environment we ensure that new build development designs are efficient, economic and safe to construct.
We have experience in all types of new build projects from housing to commercial to industrial to education and healthcare, all of which have their own codes and legislation to ensure that they comply with the requirements of the client and the wider industry. Our structural engineers engage closely with their geotechnical and civil engineering colleagues from feasibility through to completion on site.
Our structural teams have experience in dealing with the bespoke issues encountered when designing a refurbishment scheme for a particular building or structure.
From the refurbishment of modern buildings through to listed and historic structures we understand that these types of buildings are likely to throw up particular structural challenges where our innovation and creative problem-solving capabilities serve to provide our clients with simple, safe and cost-effective solutions designed to deliver functional structures without being overly conservative in our approach or risk averse where merited.
Our engineers undertake all types of structural surveys and provide high quality reports tailored to the requirements of our clients. From surveys required for the sale or purchase of a property (high rise, industrial, commercial, residential, education, healthcare etc) to the identification of defects in structures such as retaining walls and bridges we work with our clients to make sure that the focus of our survey work is where it is needed meet the brief whist also ensuring that other issues are highlighted and investigated.
In order to support Building Warrant Applications in Scotland we have Approved SER Certifiers of Design (Building Structure) and Wardell Armstrong is an Approved Body within the SER Scheme.
This enables us to certify that the structural design of buildings in Scotland complies with the relevant Building Standards and provide a certificate of design which may be submitted with the application to a Local Authority/Verifier for a Building Warrant. This can reduce the time taken to obtain the Building Warrant as the Local Authority/Verifier must accept the certificate as proof that the design is compliant.
