Our engineers have a wide range of experience in the design of roads and highways from simple junctions, estate and industrial roads to gyratory systems, more complex junctions and distributor link roads.
We can prepare the detailed design drawings (ie horizontal and vertical alignment, drainage, and associated infrastructure etc) in accordance with the relevant design standards and submit them to the Highway Authority for technical approval and incorporation into the relevant sectional agreement (eg Section 38 and Section 278) to enable both public and private sector developments.
We have extensive experience in the design and construction of drainage schemes suitable for adoption under Section 104 of the Water Industry Act 1991, and private drainage design suitable for submission to Building Control, for a range of clients from housebuilders and property developers through to education and healthcare authorities.
These works include the production of hydraulic models and simulation of storm events, detailed drainage layouts and sections, construction details and supporting calculations suitable for incorporation into formal sectional legal agreements. Our designs include for attenuation of surface water flows, water quality treatment through the introduction of SuDS, and the impacts of climate change.
Failure to carefully consider ground conditions including the topography of the site can have a severe impact on project timescales and budgets. The understanding of these issues, together with establishing the optimum level design for development sites is becoming increasingly demanding due to the availability of fill materials and high prices for disposing of unwanted and unsuitable materials.
Our design engineers, working closely with our geotechnical and ground engineers, have experience in modelling interllnked platform levels across development sites, providing cut/fill balances and earthworks quantities against multiple design surfaces to assist in the assessment and feasibility of sites and a basis for future detailed design.
Wardell Armstrong use the latest version of AutoCAD Civil3D software in the modelling and the design of 3D surfaces for, inter alia, detailed highways levels design, site level analysis, earthworks quantities, flood plain assessment and flood storage compensation works.
