Peel Airports, Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Wardell Armstrong was commissioned by Peel Energy to produce initial designs and yield assessments for several solar PV arrays across a portfolio of airports. Wardell Armstrong were also commissioned to carry out preliminary glint assessments to determine whether the solar farms would be likely to cause aircraft any safety issues on final approach to the runways. This work lead to Wardell Armstrong developing a solar PV layout for Liverpool John Lennon Airport which is currently the basis of a planning application. The layout was unusual because the orientation of the panels was rotated to minimise the impacts on aviation whilst at the same time maximising the available solar intensity.
