Milwr Tunnel Works
Wardell Armstrong formed part of a specialist team during 2017 and 2018 to design and implement challenging tunnel remedial works within a section of the Milwr Tunnel, North Wales. Pre-construction works included ecological and archaeological surveys; ground investigations; earthworks modelling; traffic and visual impact considerations; obtaining planning permission; and close working with the specialist contractors and the client teams. We were commissioned by Amey as the remedial works designer and were also appointed as the Mine Operator under The Mines Regulations (2014), responsible for the health and safety of all underground operations in the 200 metre deep tunnel.
