Keele University Student Accommodation
Wardell Armstrong were commissioned to provide pre and post tender services covering site investigation, foundation, superstructure, roads and drainage design for two new accommodation blocks providing around 450 student beds. One block, which was up to six storeys in height, was constructed over an existing geological fault for which Wardell Armstrong have previously provided advice to the University.
The fault is deemed inactive, but as a precaution the building foundation was designed to cope with minor movement and the superstructure was jointed so that any movement that did occur did not cause damage to the building. The building opened for the September 2017 student intake.
