Forth Valley College Falkirk Campus
Forth Valley College commissioned Balfour Beatty to develop the design and deliver on site construction works for the new £54M Falkirk Headquarters Campus. The project comprises a new build further education College facility complete with hard and soft external works. Wardell Armstrong was commissioned by Balfour Beatty to provide Civil and Structural Engineering and Landscape Architectural Services.
Consisting of three main blocks (Teaching, Sports and Workshop) the structure comprises steel frame supporting precast flooring with masonry external walls including curtain walling and cladding. The substructure consists of suspended ground floor slabs supported on rc ground beams, pilecaps and driven displacement piles with groundsource heat exchanger loops adopted within the pile design.
The external areas consist of courtyards, arrival plaza, green link and frontage landscape combined with car parking for over 600 cars.
