Planning Permission Secured for an Innovative Care Village

We are delighted to confirm that we secured planning permission for Cinnamon Retirement Living for a care village in Inveresk, East Lothian, Scotland. East Lothian Council voted unanimously to approve the proposal and commended the quality of the care village services.

The innovative development includes a care home to cater for Elderly Frail, Nursing and Dementia, 59 care bedrooms and 171 residential accommodation and care units for people in need of care.  Facilities include a restaurant, café and bar, shop, library, cinema, meeting rooms, hairdresser, beautician, swimming pool and health suite. Services provided include 24/7 care and emergency response, transport (mini busses and cars), social activities, a concierge service and gardening team. One of the key benefits of the care village is that it provides care tailored to resident’s needs, which change as needs change. That allows couples to stay together in their later years within the care village, rather than one having to move into specialist care alone. Cinnamon Retirement Living are providing care villages around the UK.

Wardell Armstrong provided planning, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), heritage, archaeology (including on site trenching and evaluation), civil engineering, landscape design and ecology services. PRC Architects undertook the specialist care design work.
