We’ve Helped Secure Planning Consent for the Redevelopment of the UK’s Longest Running Science Centre
Wardell Armstrong’s role as planning consultant for the redevelopment of Techniquest was principally to coordinate and manage the planning application through to determination. We detailed pre-application engagement with Cardiff Council officers and other consultees helped to ensure overwhelming endorsement to the design and proposals overall, thereby eliminating objections and reducing project risks to allow a determination under delegated powers for this high-profile scheme.
Based in Cardiff Bay, Techniquest is the UK’s longest-established science centre, with a mission to embed science in Welsh culture through interactive engagement. The widely-known educational charity will now be able to increase its footprint by 60% as it looks to diversify its audiences and increase visitor numbers to make science more accessible to the people of Wales.
It is anticipated that work will start in Spring 2019 and will be open to the public by Summer 2020.
