International Women in Engineering Day – Jennifer Smedley, Graduate Engineering Geologist

Jennifer Smedley graduated with a Masters in Engineering Geology from the University of Leeds last year and joined Wardell Armstrong soon after as a Graduate Engineering Geologist. Working from our Greater Manchester office in Leigh, Jennifer works within Wardell Armstrong’s Ground Engineering Team. For International Women in Engineering Day 2017, she gives a brief overview on what her first few months in the industry has involved.

As a Graduate Engineering Geologist, the projects I am involved with vary greatly. I can be office based tendering for pipeline projects and report writing, or on site Drilling and Grouting Tunnel networks and working on Landfill sites.

This variety has given me the opportunity to improve my skill set, travel across the UK visiting new sites and meeting new people, making every day enjoyable and different. From a Graduate I aspire to evolve my career within the industry of ground engineering, I am fortunate to be part of a knowledgeable and experienced team who I can learn a lot from.
