GIS Day 2020!

Happy GIS Day 2020!

‘A geographic information system (GIS) is a computer system for capturing, storing, checking, and displaying data related to positions on Earth’s surface.’

One of the ways that we are using GIS to improve the efficiency and quality of work for our clients is with our  ecology team, who have utilised mobile data collection apps such as ArcGIS Collector to capture map-driven forms and field data that integrates seamlessly to our geospatial analysts for processing.

This method of accurate data collection has increased efficiency through having a single source of truth and removing paper forms, which has been essential on large-scale projects. Through harnessing the power of GIS, the ecology team have captured thousands of records against rigorous ecological survey and monitoring GIS schema specifications in short timescales.
