Christine Blackmore is Appointed as New Vice-President of IOM3
Associate Director, Christine Blackmore has been elected as the new Vice-President of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) from the 1st November 2020.
The IOM3 is a major UK science and engineering institution that aims to promote and develop all aspects of the Materials Cycle, from exploration and extraction, to characterisation, processing and application, to product recycling, repurposing and reuse. The Institute has over 15,000 members.
With over 20 years’ experience in the international mining and metallurgical Industry, Christine is highly experienced in the auditing of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) ISO 14001 and management of mines and metallurgical processes for environmental protection. Many of the international projects that she has worked on at Wardell Armstrong have included management of hazardous goods used in the mining industry and transportation. Christine is an Accredited Lead Cyanide Auditor with the International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) and registered EU Expert Assessor.
Christine has been a dedicated member of IOM3 for over 25 years and since 2016, she has been the Chair of Mining Technology Board. Prior to this she was the first female President of the Western Institute of Mining and Minerals for 5 years and Honorary Secretary for 6 years. In 2018, Christine was awarded the IOM3 Futers Gold Medal for outstanding services to the international minerals industry.
