We believe that understanding the evolution and
spatial character of a place is very important in formulating urban design and
regeneration proposals.
Each place is unique in one way or another, due to
the different geographical and historic characteristics, processes and events
that have helped shape them over time. Today's spatial and townscape form
is a snapshot in time, and often elements of modern day character dilute the
intrinsic quality of places through ill-informed change.
Townscape and
spatial analysis enables better informed decision-making with respect to the
built and natural environment. An understanding of the evolution of places and
their structural characteristics helps to integrate
regeneration proposals with the existing form and character of the place.
Our team has a variety of skills to enable rigorous
analysis of townscape and spatial form and we are able to undertake townscape
and spatial structure analysis as stand-alone pieces of work or as a component
of larger urban design, cultural heritage or regeneration related commissions. |
