Technical
Services for Wind Energy Developers |
|
Wardell Armstrong International (WAI)
has over ten years experience offering technical support services for wind farm
development, from initial project screening phases, through project definition
and implementation to operations. Specific wind energy services provided by WAI
include:
- Initial feasibility reports
- Meteorological data acquisition and
analysis
- Site layout design and optimisation
- Environmental Impact Assessments
- Landscape and visual impact
modelling and assessment
- Noise monitoring and modelling
- Ecological and archaeological
studies
- Advanced performance and fault
analysis
- Planning applications
- Design and implementation of SCADA
systems for wind farm operations

Initial
Feasibility Reports |
|
WAI’s Initial Feasibility Report (IFR) provides a quick, low cost evaluation
to assist landowners and developers in making informed judgements on prospective
wind projects. An IFR can point to success or give early identification of
issues that may cause a project to fail, allowing a rapid assessment of the
viability of a project and the likely financial risks associated with it.

Meteorological
data acquisition and processing |
|
Understanding the macro-scale wind resource is a
valuable aid to finding potential wind farm sites over a large area but on the
site level a far better understanding of the wind resource is necessary to
successfully develop a project. WAI is able to manage the siting and erection of
industry standard meteorological measurement stations and to undertake the
necessary data collection and data analysis.

|
Site layout design and optimisation |
|
WAI uses industry standard computer modelling techniques to optimise the
placement of turbines and calculate the output and losses from a given site. The
purpose of this exercise is to provide bankable output predictions in order to
maximise return on investment. |
