Wardell Armstrong have project
managed and prepared a number of Sustainability Appraisals
(SA) and Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA).
The purpose of SEA/SA are to
integrate environmental and sustainability factors into policy making. There are
a number of reasons why SEA/SA are necessary for and important to informed
decision making:
-
Ensures sufficient detail is given to
environmental considerations and objectives in policy, plan
and programme development
-
Strengthens EIA
as decreases the workload and addresses issues, which are not possible to
address at project level
-
Acts as early warning system by allowing
identification and management of cumulative effects
Quality Assurance
Our approach provides advice and support from
initial review and the determination of objectives and indicators through to
monitoring and quality assurance. The key to effective SEA/SA is to work and
support those who are preparing the plan or programme.
