Sherwood Rise - Mansfield

As part of the regeneration of a former colliery site as a residential development, a new 400m access road was proposed - together with off-site Section 278 works for an enlarged traffic signal controlled road junction to cater for the higher traffic volumes.

We were commissioned to design this junction and associated drainage and earthworks to the Nottinghamshire County Council design guide, including the coordination of statutory undertakers service diversions. We were also commissioned to check and comment on or approve the design of the access road, designed by others, to make sure it met Mansfield District Council’s design requirements. Thirdly we were commissioned to prepare the contract documentation for both elements of the works, carry out site inspections and act as contract administrators on behalf of the client Bellway Homes.

The access road is currently going through the adoption process (s38) to become a publically maintained highway, giving residents smooth and safe access to the new development. The enlarged traffic signal controlled junction has reduced delays and greatly improved safety. The completion of both has enabled Bellway Homes to continue developing their residential site.
