Scotwaste – Bathgate

Scotwaste – Bathgate

A long-established regional waste management company operating in West Lothian, Scotwaste runs a successful waste collection and treatment service from its material recovery facility at Bathgate. When they decided to assess the possibility of upscaling their material recovery operations and developing a thermal treatment facility, they realised they needed expert technical assistance to help their decision-making process.

We were engaged to carry out critical feasibility and due diligence work. This involved helping Scotwaste to understand the composition of the wastes they collect, assessing the availability of further waste tonnage, constructing a financial model to assess the commercial viability of the proposed expansion, preparing facility layouts and masterplans for the expanded site, undertaking a planning appraisal to identify the key environmental issues, and providing the technical interface with the proposed MRF and thermal treatment plant technology suppliers.

At the end of the feasibility work, Scotwaste were able to make important investment decisions about the possible future expansion of their services at Bathgate with all the necessary project-critical information they needed.
