Rail

Managing and improving the UK's vital rail infrastructure includes redeveloping extensive areas of land next to rail corridors. Many of these were former sidings and goods yards, established before current engineering and environmental standards.
We've been involved in extensive investigations of past and recent uses of this kind of land, assessing their environmental setting to pave the way for planning, permitting and reconstruction.

Our engineering investigations into ground conditions determine geotechnical parameters, site drainage needs and potential contamination to inform remediation strategies. Our environmental assessments help to mitigate the potential impact of redevelopment through ecological surveys and management of protected species, archaeological appraisal of historical features, and noise, air quality and visual impact including light pollution. We also carry out similar studies on the routing and alignment of rail corridor improvements for preparing and submitting environmental statements for determination by the Infrastructure Planning Commission.

You can draw on our combined engineering and environmental services and our outstanding health and safety record to be sure of successfully carrying out time-critical work in a safe and efficient way.
