WAI's environmental 'one-stop shop' serves southwest's sustainable building industry

Article added 29th October 2009

Earlier in the year WAI’s Energy & Environment Group opened its doors to create a ‘one-stop shop’ for the region’s construction industry offering specialist advice and support for the southwest’s growing number of renewable energy projects.

The new Group, headed up by Haydn Scholes, WAI’s director responsible for energy and sustainable development, will help practitioners to successfully manage all the environmental aspects of a job from start to finish.

The Energy & Environment Group offers expert services in sustainable energy, waste management, environmental permitting and environmental impact assessments (EIA).  In addition, the Group is responding to an increasing demand for environmental and sustainability audits, design of green infrastructure and advice on climate change issues, sustainable materials and transport.

Haydn Scholes said: “As the construction sector developed environmentally we were finding more clients requiring end to end solutions - where a company now has to comply with range of policies with robust strategies for renewable energy and sustainable construction in place.

“It therefore seemed sensible to have a coordinated approach and bring all our expertise into one location saving clients time and money.”
