Mining Subsidence

Mining Subsidence

Subsidence is an inevitable consequence of most forms of underground mining.  In the UK it has more commonly been associated with coal extraction but is also associated with the extraction of other minerals including brine pumping.  Outside the UK it is also associated with the mining of coal and other resources including metals.

We advise owners, developers and operators to understand the impact and mitigation options associated with active and future mining activities.  In the UK we also act for the Cheshire Brine Subsidence Compensation Board in discharging their statutory duties.

We are highly experienced in subsidence engineering, modelling, prediction and monitoring.  On many occasions key members of staff have acted as Expert Witness for and on behalf of claimants and respondents.
