An important part of any testwork programme is the quantitative assessment of the mineralogical properties of the ore to be treated and of the test work products.  But how do you know the processing testwork programme is tailored to your mineralisation? How can you assess and benchmark the metallurgical performance that’s obtained?

Process mineralogy aims to understand the relationships between valuable and gangue minerals and the effect of the ore characteristics on the metallurgical test work results. Our metallurgists use all available technologies to obtain a wide range of information to guide and optimise the processing testwork, while our experienced mineralogists work with specialised consultants and state of the art partner laboratories to provide a broad spectrum of mineralogical services.

These include optical mineralogy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), QEMSCAN and quantitative mineralogy by electron micro probe used for mineral identification and ore characterisation, modal analysis, semi-quantitative mineralogical analysis, particle size/shape analysis, mineral liberation analysis, theoretical grade/recovery curves and predictive metallurgy, and composition of mineral phases and metal deportment.
