Maghull Central Square - Liverpool

When Gee Squared were preparing a planning application for the redevelopment of Maghull Central Square - including the redevelopment and refurbishing of retail units, alterations to car parking arrangements and upgrading of roads - they commissioned us to carry out a flood risk and drainage assessment. The main aim was to confirm that surface water could be effectively managed without increasing flood risk on or off the site.

We calculated the existing and proposed surface water discharges and the resulting attenuation requirements to make sure that additional surface water resulting from the redevelopment could safely be stored on site without affecting public and private drainage networks.

Our FRA successfully showed the site was safe from the potential impacts of flooding and that surface water originating on the site could be effectively attenuated within the development area without increasing the risk of flooding elsewhere. Our drainage strategy report, submitted with the planning application, complied with planning policy requirements and the surface water management guidance received from United Utilities and the Environment Agency.
