Unity House, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent

Unity House was a 19-storey, steel framed office building which dominated the skyline in Hanley.  Having concluded that the building had reached the end of its useful life, Stoke-on-Trent City Council commissioned Wardell Armstrong to specify and oversee it demolition.

Wardell Armstrong undertook all necessary pre-demolition inspections, including a Type 2 asbestos survey, collated all relevant background information, prepared contract documentation (based on the NEC form), acted as Project Manager under the contract, and oversaw the works.

The building, in a congested city centre location was demolished on programme, within budget and with no significant impact on the immediately surrounding area.
