Hemerdon Mine Association

The UK has a diverse geology and its success as a nation is based partly on the mineral wealth released from various parts of the country over the previous centuries. Minerals and metals worked ranged from gold, Silver, iron, lead, zinc, copper, fluorspar, fullers earth, barites, tin, tungsten, etc.  as well as the aggregate and building stone which is still widely worked. However, during the latter part of the 20th century metal mining in the UK all but disappeared but with resurgent commodity prices that is about to show a significant reversal in the south west.

In Devon there is a ‘world standard’ Wolframite deposit and this is the ore from which tungsten is liberated. Wolf Minerals has recently embarked on an ambitious project to open up a new surface mine.

Wardell Armstrong is instructed by the land and mineral owners who are a very important stakeholder in the project. We have advised the owners on the lease terms, planning, environmental aspects, valuation and bonding arrangements. During the operational phase we will manage the various aspects of the mineral lease including the rent and royalty payments that will be due.
