Groundwater Engineering & Control

We are involved in a number of long-term projects to manage and optimise groundwater and surface water resources, where an in-depth understanding of the hydrogeological regime is required.

Groundwater studies are often undertaken in conjunction with major civil engineering projects such as mining, quarrying and hydropower. Integrated seepage and slope stability modelling assist in the design of such structures as well as for mines and dams. We have particular expertise in the control and monitoring of seepage from waste containment facilities and dams.

Water balances and seepage modelling are used to determine leachate generation and to optimise groundwater protection strategies. In addition, the natural hydrochemistry of the groundwater is monitored to ensure that any action required to inhibit the potential interaction between the groundwater and the underlying strata is incorporated into the design of the structure.

Areas of Expertise include:

  • Aquifer Characterisation by Mapping and Well Tests

  • Evaluation of Aquifers

  • Seepage Control and Design

  • Hydrochemical Assessment
