Household waste recycling centres - Lanarkshire

When North Lanarkshire Council were developing two new public household waste recycling centres, they commissioned us to carry out the design, planning, permitting and construction management. This involved submitting planning applications and environmental permit applications, preparing contract documents, evaluating construction tenders and site supervision.

Detailed work included the design of the sites including the site investigations, contaminated land assessment, sustainable drainage design, earthworks, reinforced structures and infrastructure works, and liaising with statutory bodies on design issues and solutions. Final designs were approved as the basis for the planning and permit applications. Further work involved designing tender documents for site construction, analysing the tender returns, recommending a preferred construction contractor and supervising the work.

We produced a complete delivery package to help make the new facilities for residents easier to use, with more opportunities for recycling and recovery. The two sites received their planning permissions and environmental permits, and the construction work was successfully completed.
