Our experience with the engineering of
underground excavations is primarily related to
mineral extraction, but we also provide advice to the property
sector (ie both new and existing properties). Our chief areas are:
- design of mine excavations,
including access tunnels, shafts and mining layouts, both in UK and overseas
- investigation, risk assessment and
stabilisation of abandoned mine workings and shafts, including coal and
metalliferous mines and underground caverns
- design of underground excavations
for the storage/disposal of waste materials
- condition surveys of drainage
tunnels, canal and railway tunnels, and water collection/transmission tunnels
- condition surveys of tourist mines
and caves for public safety and insurance purposes
- Mining subsidence appraisals,
estimation of ground movements, identification of preventive measures and
remedial work in respect of damage
