Site Investigations

We have extensive experience in site investigation, ranging from desk study research through to physical investigation of soils, sub soils, strata and groundwaters. Our desk studies are tailored to the likely site history and where appropriate, specialist Firms may be commissioned to undertake the historical research and information on previous site users and occupiers.

Based on this information, a site investigation programme may be recommended comprising the use of shell and auger (soils) or rotary drilling techniques, geophysical techniques (resistivity, Ground Penetrating Radar, Geochemistry etc).

In some situations, it may be necessary, or prudent, to undertake archaeological research and excavations prior to any further site disturbance by physical investigations and subsequent development.

By undertaking comprehensive site investigations, tailored to each particular site and its history, the client will have the liabilities and/or technical problems arising from the site, clearly identified and costed.

We provide a suitably qualified engineer to supervise all siteworks and carry out our own soil logging to BS 5930 standards.

All of our investigations are carried out in accordance with BS 10175 where appropriate.
