Wardell Armstrong undertakes air quality
dispersion modelling and assessment work, either as a screening exercise or as
part of detailed modelling to support
environmental impact studies. These are generally carried out for proposed
residential or commercial developments adjacent to existing emission sources, or
where new emission sources are proposed near to existing sensitive receptors. |

We operate both AERMOD and ADMS Roads, which are
state of the art computer models, to
assess industrial and traffic-related development projects, or existing
installations and transport infrastructure. We are familiar with the
requirements of the Air Quality Regulations and Local Air Quality Management
guidance, and with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and WebTag Tansport
Analysis Guidance.
Air quality monitoring
networks can be designed and operated to support applications for sensitive
developments adjacent to pollution sources, or to assess the impacts of short
term events such as construction projects and land remediation schemes or
monitoring unforseen occurrences such as colliery tip fires on land adjacent
residential areas.
Both qualitative and quantitative
dust assessments are undertaken, in relation to operations such as
quarries and construction sites, to determine the likely inpcts at new or
existing sensitive receptors.

Wardell Armstrong has experience of undertaking
qualitative and quantitative odour assessments,
and predictions can be carried out using odour modelling software.
As part of our occupational
hygiene service we are able to measure air quality in the workplace,
assess employee exposure to hazardous substances and to advise on control
measures to ensure compiance with relevant Health and Safety legislation, in
particular COSHH. We have the ability to carry out the full range of air quality
monitoring, including dusts, vapours and solvents.
Our assessments are regularly used to inform the
masterplanning process, to prepare
environmental statements, for IPPC permit applications, to advise on
regulated processes and to prepare expert evidence
on personal injury, air quality, dust and odour matters. |
