Coalbed Methane

We have substantial experience of research in the coalbed methane field, having undertaken gas-related projects for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) of the UK Government, CIRIA, IEA Coal Research, the EU and SIMRAC.

The Firm has highly qualified and experienced personnel covering all the principal disciplines including:

We have experience of many coal mining areas in the UK, France, Spain, Poland, North America, South Africa, Africa, China, India, Asia, the Middle and Far East and Australia.

Our wide experience of coalbed methane comes from projects involving:

  • Extraction of gas from virgin coal seams
  • Extraction of gas from abandoned mines
  • Capture and utilisation of gas at working coal mines
  • Regulating interaction between CBM and coal mining activities
  • Control of gas in underground coal workings
  • Measurement and prediction of gas emissions in coal mines
  • Prevention of surface gas emission risks following colliery closures

We undertake feasibility studies, gas resource and reserve assessments, geological appraisals, due diligence, engineering design, monitoring, training, problem solving and technology reviews.
