Shale Gas

Shale Gas

According to recent estimates by the British Geological Survey, there are untapped shale gas resources of 37.6 trillion cubic metres within the Bowland Shale alone in northern England. And although shale gas may be in its infancy in the UK, the availability of natural gas could be a game changer if significant resources are confirmed. Despite media and public concern, the exploration and development of shale gas is gaining rapid momentum - with government support, developing regulatory guidance, new planning controls and the next round of Petroleum Exploration and Development licences.

If you're looking to be involved in this emerging opportunity you can count on our solid experience in unconventional gas technologies - including coal bed methane, coal mine methane and underground coal gasification . as well as shale gas.

We can support you at every stage - from site appraisal through environment and planning and into the exploration phase. As well as assessments of geology, shale gas resources, ground conditions, geohazards, hydrogeology, water resources, inground gases and groundwater quality, we can help with EIA, planning applications and permits, regulatory compliance advice, community consultation, environmental risk and geohazard monitoring, 14th round PEDL applications, tenure, options and leases.
