Cyanide management plan – Armenia

Cyanide will be used in the gold beneficiation process at Lydian International’s greenfield Amulsar Gold Project in Armenia. Recognising its dangers, Lydian want to adhere to the International Cyanide Management Code – a voluntary initiative for the gold-mining industry intended to enhance the safe management of cyanide that’s produced, transported, and used in the recovery of gold.

Working with the design team, our in-house certified lead cyanide auditor compiled a cyanide management plan that adheres to the requirements of the ICMC – a framework for the protocols and procedures that need to be developed to manage cyanide transportation, delivery, mixing, preparation, and handling. It also gives guidance on the quality of construction needed to contain cyanide during normal operation and emergency situations.

We also prepared a cyanide action with the key actions that Lydian need to undertake before the start of the project. When they begin construction and development, this gives them a clear pathway to follow to manage cyanide use responsibly at the site - ensuring the safety of their employees, the environment, and neighbouring communities.
