Cuba Pb-Zn Deposit Feasibility Study

As part of a Feasibility Study on a Cuban lead and zinc deposit we were commissioned to undertake an extensive programme of metallurgical testwork.

The entire work was performed at our laboratories and included a comprehensive mineral processing testwork programme including drill core assaying, mineralogical studies, comminution testing and laboratory and pilot plant froth flotation studies.

More than 720 drill core sections were analysed and prepared for testing and a total of more than 230 flotation tests were performed on composites and variability samples.

The laboratory work produced more than 2800 samples that needed to be analysed under the stringent QA/QC procedure required for a bankable study.

The vast majority of the samples were analysed at our in house laboratories for Cu, Pb, Zn, Fe by Atomic Absorption Spectrometry and total sulphur content by LECO sulphur analyser. Silver, gold, total and organic carbon assays were also obtained on selected samples.
The rapid result turnaround obtained making use of our in house analytical services has been vital in keeping the pace of a study to be completed in a tight time schedule whilst maintain control over the metallurgical performances.
