Proposed Housing Development, Holywell

Wardell Armstrong was commissioned to undertake a landscape and visual impact appraisal for the proposed housing development on the site of the former Fenwick Pit at East Holywell, on the boundary of North Tyneside and Northumberland. This followed the restoration of the adjacent colliery spoil heap in 2011.

The proposed development lies within the North Tyneside Green belt and comprises 17 larger detached properties and with the retention and conversion of the former colliery Winding house to residential accommodation. The landscape setting was therefore a fundamental consideration and our commission was subsequently extended to include the design and detailing of the soft landscape treatment for the site and associated mitigation.
